Follow the sections below after common procedures. Call (925)248 2164 if you have heavy bleeding, severe pain, swelling that persists, or concerns about medication.
After cosmetic reconstruction
Allow several days to adapt to a new bite or tooth contours. If something feels high or uneven after adjustments, contact us for an adjustment visit.
Mild hot/cold sensitivity is common while teeth settle. Warm salt-water rinses can soothe gums; use medications only as directed. Speech and saliva may change briefly — this typically improves within days.
Brush and floss daily and keep hygiene appointments. Avoid very hard or sticky foods that could chip restorations; minimize staining foods if advised.
After crown or bridge appointments
Teeth are often numb — avoid chewing until sensation returns. Temporary crowns may loosen; call us so we can recement promptly. Brush normally; floss carefully around temporaries as instructed.
After tooth extraction
Bite on gauze until bleeding slows; do not disturb the clot (no straws, vigorous rinsing, or smoking early on). Ice helps swelling; take prescribed medications as directed.
After composite (white) fillings
Avoid chewing until numbness resolves. Mild sensitivity is common; contact us if bite feels uneven or pain persists.
